- Comb Bind: To bind by inserting the “teeth” of a flexible plastic comb through holes punched into the paper. Also called Plastic Bind

- Die Cut: Cutting to a specific shape using a metal ruled die
- Lamination: Applying a thin sheet of plastic to a printed product for protection or increased an increased gloss look
- Finished Size: Size of product when completed including folding and/or trimming
- Flat Size: Size of paper used to print product before cutting and/or folding
- Trim Size: The size of the printed material in it’s finished (cut) size. (Before folding, etc.)
- Spine: Back of binding edge of a printed piece
- Folding and Finishing:
- Tri-Fold: Two folds creating three panels that allow a sheet of letterhead (or brochure) to fit into a standard #10 Business Envelope
- Gate Fold: A sheet of paper where both size of the paper fold in towards the gutter (usually the center) creating overlapping layers (like a opening/closing gate)
- Parallel Fold: Folding two parallel folds to a sheet of paper creates 6 panels
- Saddle-Stitch: To bind two or more sheets of paper together where they fold at the spine using staples (normally two to three staples)
- Score: To crease a sheet of paper so it folds more easily and accurately
- Spiral Bind: To bind paper using a “spiral” of continuous wire or plastic looped through holes
- UV Coating: Liquid varnish applied to a printed sheet to protect ink and give a high sheen/finish look
- Varnish: Liquid varnish applied as protection for the ink and appearance
